Development Assistant

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented person for the position of development assistant and administrator of the Partners In Ministry program. This is a part-time position of 20-25 hours a week, and responsibilities include all administrative aspects of the development department and other general tasks as assigned. An individual who is flexible, able to work independently with little supervision, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and who has a willingness to learn new skills will excel in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain communication and nurture relationships with churches participating in the Partners In Ministry program, including coordinating all administrative elements of the program.
  • Assist director of development with creation and distribution of fall newsletter and annual report, and other donor communications, including appeals.
  • Assist director of development with general grant research and administrative duties associated with grant writing.
  • Assist director of development with application to and participation in the Lancaster County Community Foundation’s Extra Give.
  • Process donations, including automatic monthly payments and payroll deductions, prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
  • Administration of DonorPerfect, including generating reports as needed, developing online donation forms, and maintaining contact database.
  • Create development marketing materials as needed.
  • Other duties assigned by director of development.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field or comparable experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative position, preferably in a church or not-for-profit.
  • Ability to deal professionally and effectively with the public, staff, board of directors and volunteers.
  • Ability to interpret the Samaritan’s mission to others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of DonorPerfect preferred.
