Join us for ExtraGive 2022

We are excited to announce that Samaritan Counseling Center will again be participating in this year’s 2022 ExtraGive, which occurs on November 18 and is organized by the Lancaster County Community Foundation.

If you’re not familiar with this special day, ExtraGive is an amazing, community-wide celebration of giving in Lancaster County with a stretch pool that makes the most of the generous donations from supporters like you.

Last year we raised $27,577, and those funds could have subsidized 500 counseling sessions for individuals in the community who have limited financial resources or provided 1,103 screenings for depression, anxiety and suicide risk at our local middle and high schools.

This year we are hoping to boost that impact even higher with a goal of $40,000. So far this year, Samaritan has been averaging 1,186 counseling sessions per month, and in the 2021-2022 school year, we screened more than 2,200 students through the TeenHope program.

Here are 3 non-financial ways you can help us reach that goal!

1. Get the word out about Samaritan Counseling Center on social media.

This year, Lancaster County Community Foundation is handling its stretch pool differently. Rather than focusing on the amount of money raised, the stretch pool will be distributed based on the number of unique donors contributing to an organization.

So basically, the more people who know about and give to Samaritan Counseling Center, the further everyone’s donations will be stretched. This means spreading the word about what Samaritan does is extremely important!

Here are two simple ways you can help us do this.

  • Share why you support Samaritan on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #IGiveExtra or #ExtraGive between now and November 18, and we’ll have a chance to win a $500 prize, as well as benefitting from you getting the word out about Samaritan Counseling Center.
  • Comment or share posts from Samaritan’s Facebook page before and on ExtraGive Day to increase the reach of our content. Follow our page here to get started!

2. Consider becoming a Fundraising Champion.

Did you know people are more likely to give to the causes their friends or loved ones support? In fact, during ExtraGive, statistics show that organizations can raise 2.5x more when they have individuals reaching out to peers, friends and family.

You can raise any amount you’d like, and we would love to have you as one of our champions! Your page can be personalized as much or as little as you want. Plus, you can integrate your email contacts with your fundraiser page so you can easily reach out to people on ExtraGive day.

If you’re interested in serving as a fundraising champion, reach out to Director of Development Anita Hanna by email or go to our ExtraGive page and click the “Fundraise” button at the top.

3. Share your story of why you support Samaritan Counseling Center.

These stories are invaluable for demonstrating the impact Samaritan Counseling Center has on individual lives and the community.

Additionally, if you give us permission to share your story, we can use it to inspire and encourage others on social media and through email.

If you’re willing to share your story, click here to submit it online and give us permission to use it.

We are so grateful for the generous support of our community, both for our organization and others like it during ExtraGive Day, and we hope you will join in the fun on Friday, November 18!
