Samaritan SafeChurch Participates in Federal Roundtable on Ending Child Sexual Abuse

On December 19, 2016, Linda Crockett, Director of Samaritan Counseling Center’s SafeChurch/SafePlaces program, participated with other leaders from the Just Beginnings Collaborative Cohort (JBC) in a roundtable in Washington DC hosted by the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women.  Based in Brooklyn, JBC strengthens the capacity of leaders and organizations working to build a movement to end child sexual abuse.  For more information, please click here.

 

Just Beginnings Collaborative Awards $225,000 to Expand Samaritan’s SafeChurch Child Sexual Abuse Prevention

Samaritan Counseling Center’s SafeChurch program has been awarded a three-year grant of $225,000 to expand and deepen its work with faith communities to end child sexual abuse by the Just Beginnings Collaborative (JBC), a project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Founded in 2015, JBC is a national movement building platform designed to initiate, cultivate and fund strategic efforts to end child sexual abuse. JBC’s inaugural cohort is comprised of eight individual fellows and ten organizations, including Samaritan, working together to build a national social movement to end child sexual abuse.  Click here for more information.

 

A SPECIAL PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN HIGHLAND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND SAMARITAN COUNSELING CENTER

The historic bond and commitment between Highland Presbyterian Church and the Samaritan Counseling Center had been renewed with the signing of a new special partnership and lease agreement.  Highland has affirmed its partnership with the Samaritan Center for the 26 years of the Center’s existence.

JUMP START COUPLES CONSULTATION

The Samaritan Counseling Center is now offering a program called the Jump Start Couples Consultation for those couples seeking a more immediate in-depth assessment of their presenting problem. We realize that situations arise in the life of couples that are distressing where a jump start into services is desired. The Jump Start Couples Consultation is an answer to that need. FOX 43 NEWS HIGHLIGHTS TEEN HOPE PROGRAM

Following the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School last November, the Penn Manor School District in Lancaster County is taking a proactive approach to address mental health issues among its teenage students.

The program is completely voluntary and will be tested out with the incoming freshman class. Parents have to opt-in to allow their child to participate. If it is successful, the hope is to expand it to other grades.
