A SafeChurch Retreat for Adult Survivors of
Childhood Sexual Abuse
April 22, 2017
8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Gretna Glen Retreat Center
87 Old Mine Road, Lebanon, PA
How did Tamar speak? What does the story of Tamar, the daughter of King David who was raped by her brother, say to us today about healing, resilience, and hope? We invite survivors to join with us for a day of reflection. As survivors how do we claim our voice? Through art, journaling and discussion we will explore how our stories speak out about surviving, resilience, and ways to use our voices for healing and justice in our churches and community as together we rise up to end child sexual abuse.
Those who have previously attended these retreats are welcome to come back! We are including some new activites and fresh material, so please add your voice!
Led by Lisa Hanna Witmer, MSW, LSW, a trauma-trained therapist, and Linda Crockett, Director of Samaritan SafeChurch.
Samaritan SafeChurch is a social movement building program working with congregations of varied denominations to equip all adults to protect children and teens from sexual abuse, not only in our churches, but also in the communities in which we live. A core aspect of SafeChurch is lifting up and empowering adult survivors of sexual abuse in our faith communities.
